About Kat
I read Modern and Medieval Languages (MA) and History (MPhil) at Cambridge. With a love for revolutionary history, I hoped to continue to PhD — but, like many in the humanities, I just couldn’t find the funding. I went on to work in a variety of freelance and temp roles in France, Chile, Germany and the UK before returning to study Theology and Religion at Oxford, specialising in Second Temple Judaism and early Christianity. I fled abroad again in 2018, moving from the Czech Republic to Italy and back before finally settling in Prague.
In my everyday life, I’m an academic editor and translator specialising in history, religion and culture. Both my intellectual passions and my international experiences tend to find their way into my fiction. My debut novel, Escape to Florence, combines a modern-day love story with a historical narrative about the Italian Resistance. You can read more about it here. My next book, a lavish historical about Jewish-Christian resistance in occupied Genoa, is scheduled for publication in 2025.
I speak fluent Italian and German and somewhat rusty Russian and French. My Czech is gradually improving, as is my Hebrew. When I’m not reading or writing, I like to unwind with a classic 90s romcom.
